Storm Damage Closes Some Will County Forest Preserves, Visitor Center, Trails

Several sites impacted by Monday's storms. Damage assessment ongoing Tuesday.

WILL COUNTY — Several Forest Preserve District of Will County sites are closed due to Monday's storms.

Monee Reservoir Visitor Center is closed until further notice due to a power outage at the facility. Monee Reservoir preserve remains open.

Raccoon Grove Nature Preserve access is impacted due to downed trees. The preserve's parking lot is open, but the trail is closed.

A portion of the Old Plank Road Trail between Pfeiffer Road and Harlem Avenue is closed due to fallen trees.

Plum Creek Greenway Trail at Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve is closed and will be so for several days due to downed trees and damage to the trail's 267-foot-long "Big Bridge." Scout Trail also is closed at Goodenow Grove.

Damage assessment continues as of Tuesday afternoon and updates will be posted on the Forest Preserve's Closures and Alerts website section at ReconnectWithNature.org.
