WILL COUNTY — Damage from Tuesday's storm has caused visitor center, preserve and trail closures throughout the Forest Preserve District of Will County, officials said Thursday.
Storm-related issues are being posted on the Forest Preserve's Closures and Alerts webpage at ReconnectWithNature.org.
Currently, Plum Creek Nature Center is closed because it doesn't have power, Lockport Prairie Nature Center is closed because of a downed power line, and downed trees have closed portions of the Old Plank Road Trail and Plum Creek Greenway Trail. Raccoon Grove Nature Preserve trail also is closed.
This closure list will change as sites reopen and other issues are discovered. Preserve visitors are urged to visit the online closure list before venturing out to Forest Preserve sites and to use caution in the wake of the storm as some damage may not have been reported yet.
