3 Village Trustee Spots Up For Election In April 2027, Candidate Petitions Available Soon

MANHATTAN, IL — Three, four-year Village trustee spots will be up for election on April 6, 2027, with petitions for candidacy available beginning Aug. 25, the Village announced Thursday.

The petitions will be available in the Village Clerk's Office, located at Village Hall, 260 Market Pl.

Terms will end May 1, 2027 for trustees Lucinda Neighbors, Tom Doyle and Bob Dilling.

To qualify as a candidate, applicants must be a qualified elector of the Village of Manhattan and have resided within the corporate village limits for at least one year preceding the April 6, 2027 Consolidated Election.

Illinois law imposes other qualifications to be eligible to submit a petition for candidacy and to serve as an elected official of the Village of Manhattan. Candidates should review Illinois law and other related codes to determine whether they meet the required qualifications. Compliance with the applicable law in having petitions for candidacy signed and submitting them along other required documents is the sole responsibility of the candidate and not the Village of Manhattan or any of its employees. Neither the Village Clerk nor any other village employee will be responsible for reviewing petitions that are filed during the filing period to determine whether they are in compliance with the law.

Candidacy petitions must be filed with the Village of Manhattan Clerk's Office between Monday, Nov. 16 and Monday, Nov. 23, during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
