BRADLEY, IL — Police are investigating after two people were found fatally shot inside a moving vehicle in Bradley on Thursday night, police said.
At 9:09 p.m. Thursday, an officer was flagged down at East North Street and North VanBuren Avenue for a possible stalled vehicle on North Street atop the I-57 overpass.
The officer responded to the overpass and located the vehicle, which was still in motion.
Police discovered two people inside with what appeared to be gunshot wounds, police said. Police called for assistance and forced entry into the vehicle.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver was removed for life-saving measures, police said. The passenger was checked by Bradley Fire EMS and pronounced dead. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital, where they were also pronounced dead. Their identities have not yet been released.
Police said this is a continuing investigation, but that it appears to be an isolated incident, and there are no known threats to the community.
The victims were turned over to the Kankakee County Coroner's Office. Their names are being withheld until notification of next of kin.
