MANHATTAN, IL — Manhattan could be getting its own Taco Bell.
The Village Board on Monday signed off on a developer representing the multinational fast-food chain pursuing property at U.S. Route 52 and Brookstone Drive. The board voted unanimously in favor of approving the developer's letter of intent on the property, Mayor Mike Adrieansen confirmed.
Ampler Development LLC now has a 90-day inspection period and a 270-day approval period, Adrieansen said. The board will then vote on a purchase agreement.
"We are excited about the possibility of Taco Bell coming to Manhattan!" Adrieansen said. "This would be another great addition to our growing community and another step forward in expanding our local business opportunities.
"As Manhattan continues to grow, attracting new businesses, creating local jobs, and providing more dining options for our residents remain important priorities.
"We appreciate the interest and investment being considered for Manhattan and look forward to sharing more updates as things progress."
Taco Bell would join chains Dunkin' and McDonald's, the former opening in 2022 followed by McDonald's in 2023.
