Manhattan Businesses Give Over 200 Lunches To Students

The fee hot dog lunch program was started three weeks ago to help children in the community during the school closures due to coronavirus.

“In a million years, we never thought the free lunch program we developed would come anywhere near this,” said Jen Fuessel, owner of White Wave Properties as she reflected on the last three weeks. “We knew it would help some families, but to grow from 22 the first week, to 203 and now this week 282 meals.”

She is referring to the Free Hot Dog Lunch program she and Kevin Molloy started three weeks ago to help school children in the community during the school closure due to the Corona Virus. Working with Jordan Sisk, co-owner of Manhattan Creamery, school children in the community have been receiving a free hot dog lunch every Wednesday.

Kevin Molloy, a local State Farm agent who has been serving the community for 35 years was beyond pleased when he received the call from Jordan Sisk, the Creamery owner. “Almost three hundred hot dogs in a three-hour period is amazing. You have to give Larry and Jordan a lot of credit putting the team together to handle that volume. It’s a tough time for everyone but to the kids, maybe this one event, one day a week makes things bearable. To borrow from Jon Bon Jovi, when you can’t do what you do, do what you can.”
