Forest Preserve Holds Social Media Livestream
The preserve will have the 'Reptiles Gone Wild' event pinned to its Facebook, so you can still tune in, even if you missed the live event.
WILL COUNTY, IL — The Forest Preserve District of Will County held a 'Reptiles Gone Wild' event on Facebook Friday and the preserve is planning to take several more events to social media. The preserve will have the 'Reptiles Gone Wild' event pinned to its Facebook page, so you can still tune in, even if you missed the live event.
"This will hopefully bring people a little entertainment at home," interpretive naturalist Suzy Lyttle said in a release. "Even though the nature center isn’t open to the public right now, we want to bring the nature center to them! This will be a great time to see the reptiles on the move instead of their usual position, hiding under their logs. Our reptiles all have great personalities. They are curious and active when they want to be."
This livestream was the first of several planned, but in light of Governor Pritzker's stay-at-home mandate, the preserve will not be adding any new Facebook Live events until the order is canceled.

Forest Preserve staff also will be writing stories on ways to stay busy or entertained while at home and their favorite things about nature called “Things You Love.” The first story in the series, Things We Love: Those Gangling Great Blue Herons, has been posted on The Buzz section of the website.
