Husband Of Church Secretary Charged In Embezzlement Scheme

Jeffery Elmore faces theft charges in relation to the embezzlement of more than $100,000 from St. Paul's Church in Monee.

MONEE, IL -- A Manteno man was charged on Thursday with theft in connection to an alleged church embezzlement scheme in which his wife was charged last week. Police charged Jeffery Elmore, 55 with two counts of felony theft.

The theft is in relation to the embezzlement of more than $102,000 from St. Paul’s Church in Monee, where Elmore’s wife worked for several years according to reports. Elmore is being held at the Will County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond, police said.

Ann Elmore, who worked as a secretary at the church according to a LinkedIn profile, was charged with three counts of felony theft in the case on June 27.
