Illinois Haunted House Guide 2017 | UPDATED!

Here are some places to scare up some fun this Halloween.

'Tis the season to get spooked and scared — and there's no shortage of haunted attractions in Chicagoland. Here's a look at some of the spookiest sites to scare up a terrifying good time.

13th Floor Haunted House Chicago

  • "Chicago's legendary haunted house" may be too intense for young children and is not recommended for kids under 12. Price: $26.99 general admission, $10 extra for "fast pass" access with 1/3 the wait time, $20 extra for "skip the line" tickets. No "skip the line" tickets for a Nov. 3 and 4 "blackout" event. General admission for a special Friday the 13th event is $32.99.

HellsGate Haunted House

  • Hidden deep in the woods, HellsGate Haunted House is a multi-level mansion filled with secret passages, giant slides, ghastly secrets, undead abominations, really nervous groundskeepers and a darkness that the gate can no longer contain. Price: $28 general admission, $40 VIP (little to no wait), $60 instant entry, $99 Hell Pass (makes you and your friend the haunt's personal target for the entire tour, plus a T-shirt and photo op).

  • Rated "very scary" and appropriate for ages 13 and up, this is where you'll meet Shattered the homicidal clown and the terrifying denizens of the Basement of the Dead. Price: $25 general admission, $45 "front of line" VIP access.

Creepy Hallow

  • Located at Fawn's Fall Fest & Pumpkin Farm, the freaky fun includes a Zombie Paintball Hunt ($22), Coffin Simulator Ride($24), Paintball Target Shoot ($12)and the Terror Trails Haunted Cornfield and Woods ($24).

Statesville Haunted Prison

  • The Prisoners have rioted, the guards have fled, a darkness has seized control of this Maximum Security Prison and our Warden has opened the gates for visitors. In addition to the haunted prison, this attraction includes the City of the Dead, and a Sniper Zombie Paintball Ride (Saturdays and Sundays, age 7 and up). Price: $30 General admission to Statesville and City of the Dead, $50 for both haunted houses and paintball, $45 VIP to the haunted houses only, $65 VIP haunted houses and paintball combo.

Midnight Terror Haunted House

  • One-stop shopping for all your Halloween scares, Midnight Terror boasts two haunted houses and a brand-new paranormal escape room. "Lily's House Paranormal Escape Room" is $13 per person.

The Massacre Haunted House

  • Newly renovated every year and ready to deliver the scares, The Massacre offers over 20,000+ sq. ft. of sheer nightmares for your enjoyment. Guests can get the scare of their lives with a small group of six to seven friends at two haunted houses under one roof: Massacre and Freak Show 3D. Prices: $25 general admission; fast pass is $35 online and $40 on site.

Zombie Safari at Odyssey Fun Farm

  • This hayride safari will take zombie hunters through a pitch-black cornfield. Each hayrack is equipped with 20 zombies.

Frightmare Haunted House at Haunted Trails

  • Don't miss the "Doll FREAKtory, a two-story, dark twisted maze of terrifying…FUN!" Rated one of the top Chicagoland haunts for families. Price: $12 per guest general admission, R.I.P. package included three hours of unlimited attractions and $7 in game plays for $29.95 per guest.

Realm of Terror Haunted House

  • Open in all weather conditions, Realm of Terror says it's the "craziest, most intense, extreme Halloween experience" and it's now in its 15th year. Prices: $25 general admission, $35 "skip the line" tickets and $45 VIP tickets include a souvenir T-shirt and drink ticket for the Haunt Bar.

Nightmare in Crete Haunted House

  • "In the summer of 1847, Cecil F Mancy brought his macabre killing spree upon the residents of Crete, IL. This Halloween, relive that terror at the scene of the crimes while you traverse the halls of one of Will County's oldest buildings." Prices: $10 for adults, $5 for kids age 8 and younger.

Scream Scene

  • This haunted house has been terrifying visitors with its chainsaw maniacs and insane clown maze for 20 years. Not recommended for children under age 10, it offers a toned-down "lights" on version for the faint of heart from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 for $3. Prices: $12 general admission, $17 speed pass/skip the line.

Raven's Grin Inn

  • Raven's Grin offers tours (1 hour to 1.5 hours) of the vine-covered 1870s facility, outdoor displays and props, plus hide and seek. Appropriate for all ages. Prices: $15 for adults, $13 for kids ages 9 and younger.

A Haunted House/Presented by Youth Services of Glenview

  • Family fun for all ages, refreshments, face painting, crafts and games, plus a haunted house (recommended for ages 8 and older). From 5 t0 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27 and 28. Prices: $7 pre-order, $10 at the door.

Nightmare At The Terrace (Worth Park District)

  • Offers 12 rooms of horror. Hours are 7 to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday, Oct. 27 to 29. Price: $10 all ages.
