Loaded Gun, Ammo Found During Manhattan Traffic Stop
Manhattan police say Janell Ross, a convicted felon, was involved in gang activity while driving through town.

MANHATTAN, IL — A convicted felon from Chicago was found with a loaded gun in a traffic stop made in Manhattan early Tuesday morning, police in the village said. Jenell C. Ross faces several weapons and drug charges after the stop was made near the corner of North and Thelma streets.
Manhattan police said they stopped a car driven by Ross at that location for a traffic violation. Upon a search, they found a loaded handgun, additional ammunition as well as several grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Ross, 26 is a convicted felon who did not have a valid FOID card and was "reported to have been involved in gang activity" while in the village, police said. She was charged with several felony weapons offenses including unlawful possession of a weapon as well as possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.

Her bond has been set at $100,000.
A passenger in the vehicle at the time of the stop was released without charges.
