Manhattan Park District Bid to Buy Smith Road Land From LW210 Awarded
Park District official calls land near Schoolhouse Road a "gem" and one that could hold a future sports complex.

MANHATTAN, IL - The Manhattan Park District has plans to buy land on Smith Road from the Lincoln-Way High School District 210 and potentially use it to build a new sports complex, according to a Daily Southtown report.
The district was awarded a bid of $701,500 for the 78-acre site that Director Julie Popp called “a gem” and possibly an area to hold a future sports complex.

The bid awarded to the park district was one of three made during a school board meeting involving school-owned land once planned to be the site of future schools.
Also in Manhattan, Spiess Farms offered $1.2 million for 100 acres at 16462 W. Manhattan Road.

A bid for a 72-acre site in Tinley Park by supermarket chain Woodman’s Markets was also approved by the district board.
