Manhattan’s Young Entrepreneur Market Returns For Fifth Year With Record-Breaking Participation
The market is set for Saturday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Village Hall parking lot.

MANHATTAN, IL — The Village of Manhattan’s Young Entrepreneur Market is back for its fifth year, with a lineup bigger than ever.
A record-breaking 57 young businesses will showcase their creativity, talent, and entrepreneurial spirit on Saturday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Village Hall parking lot, 260 Market Place. A ceremonial ribbon cutting honoring all participating young entrepreneurs will take place at 9:50 a.m. before the market officially opens.
In the event of inclement weather, the Young Entrepreneur Market will be relocated indoors to Manhattan Junior High School (15414 Smith Rd.). The Village will continue to monitor the forecast and will announce any location changes through the Village of Manhattan Facebook page and Village website by Friday afternoon.

The Young Entrepreneur Market provides an opportunity for individuals 17 years old and younger to experience the excitement of business ownership by selling handmade products, sharing their skills, and showcasing their unique talents. Created to connect local youth with the community while teaching valuable business skills, the market gives participants hands-on experience with entrepreneurship, including developing ideas, promoting their products, and interacting with customers. This year’s event includes 26 returning young entrepreneurs, demonstrating the continued growth, success, and positive impact of this community program.
"It has been amazing to watch these young entrepreneurs grow and gain confidence through this experience," said Mayor Mike Adrieansen.

"Each year, the creativity, determination, and passion these young business owners bring to the market continues to impress us. This event is about more than selling products, it is about teaching valuable life skills, building confidence, and showing our youth that their ideas can make a difference."

The program introduces participants to the fundamentals of running a business, including setting prices, marketing their products, making sales, and interacting with customers. Each participating business receives a Village of Manhattan Business License and an honorary membership with the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, providing young entrepreneurs with a real-world introduction to the local business community.
Over the years, the Young Entrepreneur Market has gained recognition beyond Manhattan. Of this year’s 57 businesses, 16 young entrepreneurs are traveling from surrounding communities to participate, highlighting the impact and reputation this event has created.
