Robber Cleans Out Register At Manhattan Liquor Store: Police

The robbery happened at CD Liquors happened early Thursday morning, police said.

MANHATTAN, IL — Manhattan police are investigating Thursday after a man emptied the register at a Manhattan liquor store before fleeing on foot.

A man entered CD Liquors, 24600 S. US 52, Thursday just before 9 a.m., then going to the unattended register and emptying it, Manhattan Police Chief Jeff Wold told Patch. An employee was at the store, but away from the register and did not witness the crime. The employee called police later after discovering the empty register.

Surveillance footage shows the suspect with his face covered by a bandana and sunglasses. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt, police said. Police said no weapon was implied.

The man, believed to be 20 to 30 years old, fled the scene on foot.
