Smash-And-Grab Crew Hits Gaming Machines At Gas Station With Customers Inside: Monee Police
The business was open at the time when three suspects with sledgehammers and pry tools broke into the machines, police said.
MONEE, IL — Burglars struck the gaming machines inside a Monee gas station early Friday, as the business was open and customers were present, police said.
Monee police responded to Thornton's, 25451 S. Ridgeland Ave., at 2:52 a.m. for a report of a burglary.
Three masked and gloved suspects wielding sledgehammers and pry tools targeted the machines, and were "in and out of the business within minutes," Monee police said in a release.

No employees or customers were injured, and police said witness interviews and a review of surveillance video determined that no individual person was targeted, and no robbery occurred.
The business was closed for a brief period after the burglary for crime scene processing, police said.

Monee police investigators are working leads and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
