Local leagues and programs across Manhattan are offering opportunities for all ages to get out and play this season.

MANHATTAN, IL — With warmer days ahead, it’s a great time to get outside and stay active. Around Manhattan, many local leagues and programs are opening registration for the season. To help you get started, we’ve gathered a few resources where you can find more details and sign up — consider this a starting point as you explore what’s available in the community.

Youth Sports

Families in Manhattan have several options when it comes to youth sports leagues and programs throughout the year.

The Manhattan Park District offers youth sports leagues including coed T-ball/baseball, soccer, basketball, and girls softball.

Coed T-ball/baseball

MPD teams participate in the Lincoln-way Area Youth Baseball League, playing with teams from Frankfort, Frankfort Square, Mokena, Tinley Park, and other Lincoln-way area organizations. More here.

Soccer

Manhattan Park District Mavericks Youth Soccer (MPD Mavericks) partners with the Mokena Park District to participate in an recreation level developmental league. This recreational league focuses on teaching fundamental skills to beginner and novice players ages 4yrs – 8th Grade. Utilizing small-sided games, this program is designed to maximize opportunities for ‘touches on the ball’ and active playing time for each player. This league follows typical Soccer rules, with modifications made to promote smooth and fluid game play with minimal stoppages. More here.

Girls Softball

MPD teams participate in the Southside Softball Conference with teams from Frankfort, Mokena, Frankfort Square, Homewood, Steger, Flossmoor and Tinley Park. More here.

MANHATTAN PATRIOTS

The Manhattan Patriots is a non-profit organization that provides youth football and cheerleading for children from Manhattan and surrounding communities, ages kindergarten through 8th. Beginning with the 2026 season, the Manhattan Patriots will compete in the River Valley Youth Football League. This move allows the Manhattan Patriots to have larger rosters, providing greater flexibility to accommodate the growing Manhattan community, and creates the opportunity to field multiple teams at individual age levels. ILLINOIS CELTICS

Illinois Celtics baseball is a non-profit organization offering youth baseball in Manhattan, with teams ranging from 10u to 14u. More here.

LINCOLN-WAY SWIM ASSOCIATION GATORS SWIM TEAM

The mission of the Lincoln-Way Swim Association Gators Swim Team is to provide a safe, healthy, and inclusive competitive swimming environment where every athlete, regardless of age or ability can grow, thrive, and reach their full potential.

It's a year-round competitive age-group program serving swimmers from age five through high school. Athletes are placed in practice groups based on ability rather than age, allowing every swimmer to excel at their own pace. Adult Leagues & Recreational Sports

Adults looking to stay active can also find opportunities to play and connect through local leagues and recreation programs.

The Manhattan Park District offers adult leagues for coed 12-inch softball, coed kickball, and pickleball. More here.

Parks, Recreation & Community Programs

Local parks departments and community organizations often offer seasonal leagues, classes and recreation programs for residents of all ages.

The Manhattan Park District offers spring/summer programs including bucket golf and disc golf tournaments, and also a youth NFL draft combine. Find out more here.
