Suicidal Man Refuses To Leave Home, Draws Hours-Long Police Presence: Sheriff
The incident happened Wednesday at a home on 88th Avenue near Bruns Road in Green Garden Township.
GREEN GARDEN TOWNSHIP, IL — A reportedly suicidal man inside a Green Garden Township home drew a heavy police presence Wednesday, the Will County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.
Deputies were called to the home on South 88th Avenue, south of Bruns Road, at 3:47 p.m. Wednesday. Deputies at the scene met with a relative of the man, who said he was threatening to harm himself.
Deputies were able to talk via telephone with the man, who refused to leave the home.

After several hours of negotiations, deputies left the scene at 8:40 p.m., so as not to force a confrontation and because no crime had been committed, said Will County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Elizabeth Matthews.
