3 Deaths, 21 Cases Of Coronavirus At Clarendale Of Mokena: IDPH
As of Tuesday, the facility said it now has 21 cases of the coronavirus at the facility.
MOKENA, IL — Clarendale of Mokena, a senior living facility in Mokena, has 21 reported cases of coronavirus and three related deaths, the facility told Patch Tuesday. This newest information marks an increase from the May 8 data from IDPH which shows 13 reported cases and one related death.
On Tuesday, the facility told Patch it now has 21 cases at the facility. Eight staff members and 13 residents have tested positive for the coronavirus, the facility said.
"We are deeply saddened to report that three residents of our community who had previously tested positive for COVID-19 have passed away at a local hospital," the facility said. "We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of our beloved residents. Our thoughts and prayers are with their family and friends during this difficult time."

The facility said it has implement infection control measure including increased sanitizing, restricting visitors, canceling all large social events and recreational activities, screening employees daily and requiring employees to wear masks.
"This is a sad and difficult time for our entire community, and our focus continues to be monitoring this situation and implementing all measures that will help to ensure the health and safety of our residents and employees," the facility said.

IDPH is now sharing the case numbers of residents and staff of long-term care facilities. The data is reported starting from the beginning of the coronavirus response on Jan. 24. Numbers are current as of May 8.
The cases included in the data include lab confirmed cases and cases meeting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention outbreak case definition. Facilities report the data to local health departments, who then report to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

Clarendale of Mokena is managed by Life Care Services. Life Care Services manages senior living locations across the country, including several in the Chicago area. Clarendale of Mokena, 21536 S. Wolf Road, provides independent living, assisted living and memory care.
In Will County, IDPH is reporting there are 645 cases of coronavirus in long-term care facilities and 111 related deaths. Meadowbrook Manor of Bolingbrook now has the highest number of cases in the county, as well as the highest number of coronavirus related deaths in Will County. The facility has 173 cases, and 26 related deaths, according to IDPH.
