200 Pounds Of Drugs Collected At Mokena Take-Back Event
Mokena police hauled in 200 pounds of unwanted or unused prescription drugs at a take-back event at the police station last weekend.

MOKENA, IL - Mokena police collected 200 pounds of prescription drugs during the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 28. Residents turned in their unwanted, expired and unused prescription and over-the-counter medications at the police station. Thousands of law enforcement agencies across the country participate the twice yearly event.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration holds the in the spring and fall to bring national attention to pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse. Mokena Police Chief Steve Vaccaro said on Friday that 200 pounds of drugs were collected from the event in Mokena. Drugs collected at all prescription drug take-back events are burned.
The lobby of the Mokena police station at 10907 Front St. is a safe spot to drop off unwanted or unused prescription drugs year-round.
