265 Yards and 3 Touchdowns All in a Night's Work for LW East's Morrissey

Griffins beat Lincoln-Way Central Knights in district rivalry game.

Liam Morrissey rushed 53 times for 265 yards and three touchdowns in Lincoln-Way East’s victory over Lincoln-Way Central, 23-15, late Friday. The game was delayed in the third quarter due to lightning. The Griffins’ first 64-yard touchdown drive had Morrissey carrying the ball on every one of the eight plays. “He’s just a big, tough back. A grinder who falls forward on contact. On a night when the passing game didn’t go like it went a week ago, he got the tough yards,” Griffins coach Rob Zvonar told sports correspondent Logan Malloy, reporting for Sun-Times Media. Both teams are now 1-1.
