MOKENA, IL — For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to look for your new family member is at NAWS Humane Society of Illinois. This week's 'Adoptable Pet' is Porter, who is available for adoption at the humane society.

The society said Porter is a 2 and a half year old black Lab mix and was rescued from the euthanasia list at a high-kill shelter in Tennessee. He is friendly, playful and energetic, loves attention and is very affectionate.

Porter also loves treats and takes them very gently, which should help with training, the society said. He is not a fan of other dogs and would do best as the only dog in a home. He also loves to play ball with his favorite toy.
