Alleged Drunken Driver Narrowly Avoids Crashing into Mokena House

The man allegedly tried to back his car away from the scene, but neighbors jammed paver bricks under his tires to stop him.

An alleged drunken driver in Mokena Thursday barely missed crashing into a house, and reportedly tried to escape the scene before police could arrive.

Marc E. Davis, 52, of the 10400 block of O’Connell Avenue, was turning onto 195th Street from Everest Lane, when he lost control of his SUV, skidded across the lawn and struck trees in front of a house at the southwest corner of the intersection, Tribune Media reports.

The trees and some landscaping bricks prevented the car from hitting the house.

“I was watching TV and my husband was in bed, and I heard this, thought it was snow falling off the building, and it was a guy hit our landscaping,” homeowner Amy Young told reporters.

Davis then tried to leave the scene, Young said, but neighbors shoved additional pavers under the tires to prevent his fleeing. He was pinned inside the car, Young said.
