MOKENA, IL — An open air artisan and vendor market set for Saturday, June 6 at a Mokena church will feature 25 artists, makers and vendors.
The HeART in the Park Market showcases local artists to support various missions on behalf of Marley Community Church in Mokena. It's set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 6 at the church, 12625 W. 187th St. Admission is free, and the event features food trucks, live music and a kids dance party.
The market spotlights a curated selection of talented makers and artisans who specialize in handmade, up-cycled, repurposed, rustic, vintage, and farmhouse items. A raffle will also feature uniquely packaged basket prizes. See their Facebook page for more. Raffle proceeds benefit MorningStar Mission, a nonprofit centered around providing food, shelter and clothing for the homeless and those in need.
The church's youth group will sell hot dogs, candy and drinks to support their group.
Goods available for purchase will range from jewelry, plants, salsas, soaps and candles—"a little bit of everything," said Kathleen Haag, one of the organizers. The event as a whole supports local charities as well as missions, Haag said.
Live entertainment is also lined up, with All Hat No Cattle playing bluegrass from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A kids dance party is set for 12 to 12:45 p.m., followed by 60s tribute band British Accent from 1 to 3 p.m.
