Burros Win 13-12 vs. New Lenox Mustangs

Burros down 12-0 at half time after facing the Mustangs stifling defense…..Mustangs scored after a big run and a long pass but could not convert the extra point, which would cost them in the end.

Burros came out in second half determined to not go down easy…..second half started with a 64-yard touchdown drive – led down field Ben Ravetto with several large gains up the middle and capped off with a 4-yd TD run by Mikey Gossage.   The extra point scored by Ravetto was pivotal in pulling the Burros close to 12-7

The Burros defense continued to hold strong the next few possessions with key plays being made by Jack Morlan (interception),  Jake Gemeiner (forced fumble), and Ben Ravetto (fumble recovery)

After the Ravetto fumble recovery in the 4th Quarter, Quarterback  Michael Stewart led the Burros down the field on their final drive.  Capped by a 26-yd touchdown by Mikey Gossage, putting the Burros up 13-12 with just over 4 minutes to go

On the Mustangs final possession, after pressure on the quarterback by Thomas Kocenko and Mason Sargent,  Eddie Valdez soared high for an interception that put the ball back in the hands of the Burros to run out the clock.

Burros avenged their only loss of the season.

Black Pee Wee Junior team ended the season 10-1 and Champions of the South West Midget Football Conference.

Head Coach John Flynders stated,  “ Through their hard work, determination, and a refusal to quit, our young Burros showed the heart of a champion today……for that I could not be prouder.  Our boys will carry the championship tag attached to their names for the rest of their lives.”
