Bertino-Tarrant to Host Hiring Event on Sept. 25

A veterans' preview is from 10 to 11 a.m.; the event is open to everyone from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant (D-Shorewood) on Monday announced she will host a hiring event that will work to match prospective job seekers with on-site employers.

The event is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at American Legion Post 1080, located at 2625 Ingalls Ave. in Joliet.

The Illinois Department of Employment Security will partner with Bertino-Tarrant for the free event. A veterans’ preview is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

“I am happy to be providing a service that gives qualified individuals the opportunity to connect with area businesses that are seeking employees,” Bertino-Tarrant said in a press release. “It is our goal to help people secure meaningful employment.”

Job seekers who register in advance will have the opportunity to have their skills matched with hundreds of prospective employers. Illinois Department of Employment Security professionals will be available on-site to increase registered job-seekers’ potential opportunities.

Event participants will be able to quickly access hundreds of job opportunities in the south suburbs, Bertino-Tarrant said in a press release. They can also have their skills matched to interested employers and even partake in on-site interviews to kick-start a new career.
