The Cancer Support Center hosts its Annual Kids Camp

The Cancer Support Center will host its annual, week-long Kids Camp at The Cancer Support Center,19657 S. LaGrange Road, Mokena, Ill., 60448

The Cancer Support Center will host its annual, week-long Kids Camp at The Cancer Support Center,19657 S. LaGrange Road, Mokena, Ill., 60448, on July 11 thru July 15, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The Kids Camp is designed for ages six to12 year-olds, who have been impacted by cancer. This program will include outdoor team-building, creative expression, therapy dogs and so much more, offered at no charge. Space is limited; please call 708.478.3529 to register.

“Kids Camp is a special week at The Cancer Support Center,” said Kathleen Simpson, ATR, LCPC, Director of Programs & Art Therapist at The Cancer Support Center. “This program brings children impacted by cancer together to minimize isolation, discuss feelings and learn coping techniques in a safe, fun atmosphere.”

The Cancer Support Center also offers children and family counseling, a weekly kids club, and teen groups. All programs are designed to provide children and families with educational tools to cope with a cancer diagnosis.

The Cancer Support Center provides comprehensive and counseling programs that are delivered by professionals always offered at no charge. In 2015, The Center provided more than 11,000 hours of programming and more than 300 free wigs, scarves and hats to women who were losing their hair due to chemotherapy, demonstrating the need in its communities. Offices are located in Mokena, 19657 S. LaGrange Road, and Homewood, 2028 Elm Road. Programs are also facilitated at several hospitals and cancer centers in the southland communities. The Center is able to provide these resources to anyone living with cancer, at no charge, because of the generosity of individuals, businesses, and organizations.
