Cancer Support Center Launches FREE Chair Fitness for Lymphedema & Neuropathy Patients

Supportive oncology program helps improve mobility, circulation, and confidence through gentle chair-based movement.

Cancer Support Center Launches New, Free Chair Fitness Program for Lymphedema & Neuropathy

Individuals living with lymphedema, neuropathy, or mobility challenges related to cancer treatment now have a new source of support through the Cancer Support Center’s newest supportive oncology program.

Chair Fitness for Lymphedema & Neuropathy is a new, 45-minute chair-based fitness class designed specifically to help individuals experiencing these common side effects of cancer and its treatment. Offered on select Mondays at the Cancer Support Center’s Homewood and Mokena locations, the program is available at no cost to anyone impacted by cancer.

Led by fitness instructor Marcela Puga, the class incorporates gentle movement, muscle activation, and guided breathing exercises to encourage lymphatic flow, improve mobility, stimulate circulation in the hands and feet, and support nerve health. Participants may also experience reduced stiffness, improved balance, and greater confidence in everyday movement.

Because the class is entirely chair-based, it is appropriate for individuals of all fitness and mobility levels, whether they are currently undergoing treatment, recovering after treatment, or managing long-term side effects.

The Cancer Support Centeris a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring no one faces cancer alone. Through counseling, support groups, fitness, nutrition, education, and wellness programs, CSC provides comprehensive supportive oncology services to anyone impacted by cancer. - All at no cost.
