Cancer Support Center & UChicago Medicine Partner for Free Virtual Program on the Physics of Radiation Therapy

The Cancer Support Center, in partnership with UChicago Medicine, is hosting a free virtual educational program designed to help individuals better understand one of the most common cancer treatments: radiation therapy.

The Physics of Radiation Therapy will take place Friday, Aug. 7, from 12–1 p.m. and features special guest presenter Christopher Stepaniak, PhD, DABR, Director of Network Medical Physics at UChicago Medicine.

During this informative session, Dr. Stepaniak will explain the science behind radiation therapy, including how radiation beams are carefully created, shaped, and precisely targeted to destroy cancer cells while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. Participants will gain a better understanding of how radiation therapy works and the advanced technology that helps make treatment as safe and effective as possible.

Whether you are preparing for radiation treatment, currently undergoing treatment, supporting a loved one, or simply interested in learning more, this educational presentation offers valuable insight from an expert in the field.
