Car Burglary Suspect Tracked, Found At Restaurant

Rodney Brown is accused of stealing items from a car parked at the Hickory Creek Preserve in Mokena.

MOKENA, IL – Will County Forest Preserve police were led to a car burglary suspect by tracking the items he allegedly stole from a vehicle parked at the Hickory Creek Preserve in Mokena last Wednesday, Aug. 15. Authorities found 48-year-old Rodney Brown at a restaurant in Tinley Park, according to a statement from the Forest Preserve District of Will County.

Police arrived at the scene of the reported car burglary on LaPorte Access Road in Mokena at 5:30 p.m. They were able to track the stolen items to the restaurant, where they located Brown and detained him until a search warrant was obtained.

According to police, they found the victim's purse, credit cards, phone and an item purchased with one of the credit cards during a search.

Brown, of Chicago, was charged with two felonies, theft and burglary from a motor vehicle, and was taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility in Joliet.
