Chew on This Celebrates 10 Years with $2,500 Rescue Challenge

The month of August is always home to Chew on This Dog Barkery’s annual Mutts in Margaritaville celebration. A festive event of costumed dogs, games and contests, and adoption awareness, Chew on This also uses this day out as an anniversary celebration.

“We are incredibly fortunate to mark a decade in business here in Frankfort. Mutts in Margaritaville has long been our way—our very weird and fun way—of thanking our customers and their owners for another year in business,” said Teresa Kara, owner of Chew on This.

On this 10-year anniversary, Kara has decided to celebrate big with $2,500 Reward Challenge, gifting cash to local, participating rescues. It’s a Pittie Rescue, Dogs R Deserving, Lulu’s Locker, P.A.W.S., and South Suburban Humane Society will be at the event, showcasing pets available for adoption and competing for points to win donation funds for their shelters.

“Every one of these organizations does incredible work all year long—healing injured, abandoned animals and finding forever homes for them. Each one will receive some form of cash donation from Chew on This that day. We hope attendees will up the ante and donate that day as well,” encourages Kara.

Mutts in Margaritaville will also feature their now-famous games and contests like the Owner/Pet Look-a-like Contest, agility and obedience feats, guess the treat raffles, costume contests and so much more. In addition, early arrivers will receive packed Goodie Bags sponsored by many local businesses and vendors. These business partners gave to congratulate Chew on This on their ten years in business and Tom and Teresa Kara’s tireless support of the Frankfort community.

Mutts in Margaritaville starts at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 23 at Breidert Green in downtown Frankfort. All well-behaved, leashed pups are welcome to attend. There are already incredible baskets from local merchants being raffled off to benefit the participating shelters.
