Coronavirus: How Full Are Mokena-Area Hospitals?

There is now public data showing how close your local hospital is to being at or over capacity.

MOKENA, IL — Hospitals in the Mokena area are almost at capacity due to the ongoing surge in coronavirus cases in Illinois and around the country. State health officials warn that once all hospital beds are occupied, patients may be turned away.

For weeks, Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Illinois health officials have warned residents of the risk of local hospitals becoming overwhelmed as case counts continue to rise, even as vaccine distribution could be just days away.

Users can also look up county and statewide hospitalization rates, in addition to info on their local hospital:

  • In Will County, hospitals are 75 percent full
  • In DuPage County, hospitals are 74 percent full
  • In Grundy County, hospitals are 59 percent full
  • In Cook County, hospitals are 70 percent full
  • In Kane County, hospitals are 64 percent full
  • In McHenry County, hospitals are 54 percent full
  • In Lake County, hospitals are 65 percent full

Below are local hospital capacity rates and their number of daily adult COVID-19 inpatients based on a seven-day average:

  • Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox — 80 percent full, treating an average of 105 COVID-19 patients; 29 percent of beds used by COVID-19 patients
  • Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet — 72 percent full, treating an average of 101 COVID-19 patients; 25 percent of beds used by COVID-19 patients
  • Advocate Christ Hospital & Medical Center in Oak Lawn — 72 percent full, treating an average of 196 COVID-19 patients; 26 percent of beds used by COVID-19 patients
  • Franciscan Health Olympia & Chicago Heights in Olympia Fields — 82 percent full, treating an average of 87 COVID-19 patients; 38 percent of beds used by COVID-19 patients
