D159 Superintendent Retiring At End Of School Year

Don White, who has been superintendent of the district since 2018, said his last day will be June 30, 2020.

MOKENA, IL — District 159 superintendent Dr. Don White will be retiring at the end of the current school year. At the Nov. 20 District 159 board of education meeting, White shared his resignation letter with the board.

White came to District 159 in 2018 after he was voted out of his role in District 181 in Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills.

In his letter to the board, White said his last day will be June 30, 2020.

"It has been my true honor to serve as a public school district superintendent for 19 years and as an educator for 33 years; with the last two years being a joyous capstone," White wrote in his letter to the board.

He thanked the board members, administrators district office staff, teachers and support employees for their dedication and work.

"I will leave on June 30 knowing that the most important work occurs in the halls and classrooms of the schools – and it cannot happen without adults who are willing to build positive relationships with all, can face every challenge the community or society offers, and have a love
for what is most important, the children we serve," White wrote.
