Launched in 2012 by former Chicago Luvabull cheerleader, Kimberly Scherp, the program has grown 300 percent to become Chicago Southland’s leading competitive allstar team. Today, six professional coaches and gymnasts train upwards of 80 athletes traveling from Chicago, Frankfort, Mokena, Matteson, Lockport, Richton Park and as far away as Indiana.

Unlike school-based cheer squads, all star cheerleading teams compete against other all star teams at the local, regional and national levels. All star cheerleaders train year round to perfect their stunts, tumbling, pyramids, jumps and dance routines that are choreographed to music. Routines are judged for skill difficulty, sharpness of motion, originality and proper execution.
Under the direction of the United States All Star Federation, the nation’s estimated 450,000 all-star cheerleaders typically compete in seven different age ranges (Tiny, Mini, Youth, Junior, Senior, International and Special Needs), as well as two squad sizes (Small and Large) and six competition skill levels (L1-L6).
