End Of Summer Read Party at the Library

Mokena Community Public Library District’s 2016 Summer Reading Program “Read for the Win” ended with a summer party.

It was a busy summer at the Mokena Community Public Library District as over 1000 people participated in The Summer Read 2016 “Read for the Win”. Children, Teen and Adults earned raffle tickets for great prizes and attended many exciting programs throughout the summer.

Programs included bowling, indoor miniature golf, after- hour’s laser tag, World of Traveling Reptiles, a Minecraft Survival Game, a visit from Staley the Chicago Bears mascot and so much more.

The summer fun culminated with a Summer Read party on Tuesday, August 9. Library staff and volunteers hosted the event which included air brushes tattoos, candy art and ice cream. Dale the Balloon Dude as well as Southpaw, the Chicago White Sox mascot entertained the crowd. The announcements of the winners and prizes were also revealed during the concert.
