Lincoln-Way North to Present "Sound of Music"

Lincoln-Way North High School students are bringing one of Rogers & Hammerstein’s most beloved musicals to the stage this month as they present The Sound of Music as their spring musical.

“The Sound of Music really speaks to cast members and audiences alike,” said Lincoln-Way North choral director Christina Shoemaker. “It is a musical with an important message: stand up for what you believe in and fight for what you know is right.”

Based on an inspiring true story, The Sound of Music tells the story of Maria, a postulant who proves too high-spirited for the religious life and is dispatched to serve as a governess for seven children of a widowed naval captain.

“The students have enjoyed preparing this charming classic,” said Shoemaker, “and we are all looking forward to sharing its message with our audiences.”

Area residents will have three opportunities to see The Sound of Music – 7 p.m. March 31, April 1 and April 2 at Lincoln-Way North High School, 19900 S. Harlem Ave., Frankfort.
