MOKENA, IL — A Mokena family is overjoyed after reuniting with "Goose," their beloved cat that went missing for a few days earlier this month in their subdivision near Yunker Farm. Kristin Kolar says the community's effort in helping them find their loved one is an example of why her family is proud to call the village home.

"We couldn't be happier to have chosen Mokena as our home," said Kolar, whose family moved to the south suburbs fairly recently from Chicago. "I am so very happy to report that Goose has been returned home."

Kolar said a neighbor of hers saw one of the lost cat flyers she made and spotted Goose in his backyard.

Kolar said an employee at the Petsmart on Wolf Road took a picture of the flyer to show his family and friends.

"Mokena really should be proud of the wonderful community we have here," Kolar said. "Everyone we spoke with while looking for Goose offered to be proactive in looking, and in spreading the word."
