Fired Employee Pulled Bat On Ex-Bosses: Cops
Police say Salvador Alvarez stole equipment from a Mokena business and threatened managers with a bat before fleeing to his home in Joliet.

MOKENA, IL — A Joliet man found himself in custody at the Will County jail Thursday night after police say he used an aluminum bat to threaten managers at a business in Mokena.
Salvador Alvarez, 43, was found at home in the 400 block of Pearle Street in Joliet after an incident unfolded earlier in the day outside the "My Beer Guy" business in the 19100 block of Blackhawk Parkway in Mokena, Mokena Police Chief Steve Vaccaro said.
Vaccaro said Alvarez' employment was terminated at the business on Thursday and "as a result (Alvarez) ended up taking equipment from the business and began loading it in his car."

When managers approached Alvarez to confront him on the theft, Vaccaro said Alvarez threatened them with the bat and then fled the scene with the stolen items. He was charged with armed robbery when police found him at home in Joliet about 40 minutes later.
Alvarez appeared in bond court to face the charge Friday morning.
