Forest Preserve Plans Volunteer Work Days In Mokena

MOKENA, IL — The Forest Preserve District of Will County will hold several volunteer workdays at the Hickory Creek Preserve in Mokena. The preserve said it will hold volunteer work days throughout the county, and volunteers will help remove invasive species and collect seed for future restoration efforts.

Workdays run from 8 a.m. until noon. You should dress for outdoor work (long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes) and the weather. In Mokena, work days will be held:

• Tuesday, Oct. 8: Hickory Creek Preserve – LaPorte Road Access, Mokena (brush control)
• Sunday, Nov. 3: Hickory Creek Preserve – Hickory Creek Junction, Mokena (brush control)
• Saturday, Nov. 30: Work Off the Turkey Workday, Hickory Creek Preserve – LaPorte Road Access (brush control)
• Sunday, Dec. 8: Hickory Creek Preserve – LaPorte Road Access (brush control)
