Forest Preserve’s Outdoor BYOB Bingo Program Canceled Due To Heat

The bingo program was set to take place on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Hickory Creek Preserve - LaPorte Road Access in Mokena.

The Forest Preserve District of Will County has canceled the outdoor BYOB Bingo program scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Hickory Creek Preserve - LaPorte Road Access due to an excessive heat warning issued by the National Weather Service.

Heat indices of 110-115 degrees are expected on Wednesday and the extreme heat will “significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses,” according to the weather service.

“We want Forest Preserve program participants to be safe and to have a good time and with those kinds of predicted temperatures, it’s best that people stay indoors and stay cool if they can,” said Cindy Cain, the Forest Preserve District’s public information officer.

“If you have to be outside for any reason during this heat wave, the District urges everyone to follow advice being given by health and emergency response agencies to take frequent breaks indoors or in the shade and to hydrate often,” she added.

Once the weather cools off and you are looking for some outdoor fun, feel free to peruse the Forest Preserve District’s online Event Calendar and Recreation page at ReconnectWithNature.org.
