Free Meet and Greet with Santa

Kurland Insurance Agency teaming up with the U.S. Marines to bring smiles to children’s faces during the agencies fifth annual Toys for Tots Drive and A Visit With Santa to be held Saturday December 13th at 10 am- 2 pm at the Kurland Offices 15040 S. Ravinia Ave. # 45 Orland Park, Il 60462. Community members will enjoy festive music, a visit from Santa, a complimentary picture with Santa, specialty desserts and coffees. Attendees are encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift for a child in need.

Toys for Tots began in 1947 when Major Bill Hendricks, USMCR, and a group of Marine Reservists in Los Angeles collected and distributed 5,000 toys to needy children. The idea came from Bill’s wife, Diane, when she handcrafted a Raggedy Ann doll and asked Bill to deliver the doll to an organization which would give it to a needy child at Christmas. When Bill determined that no such agency existed, Diane told Bill that he should start one, and he did.
