It made the AOL homepage Thursday morning and has generated a lot of talk on Patches nation-wide. It's been very good for the site, but there's one person I forgot to thank.

Community columnist Don Labriola, whose runs Mondays, was the person who told me about the singe haircut and . He also told me he got his singe haircut yesterday.

Voices Speak Out on Mokena Patch

This week, as principal of . She'll be leaving the district to take a job as an assistant principal at .

Mokena Patch readers left several touching good-byes this week in comments left on the site.

Congratulations! She rose to the position when moved at the last minute at the beginning of school. She has done a great job for the school district. Good luck with the new position.

I am very happy for Mrs. Clavenna, but will miss seeing her with our district. She is a wonderful teacher and principal, and I know she will do great at her new school.

I am going to miss Chris very much; she has always been a wonderful asset to 159. But I am excited for her with her new endeavor nonetheless. I've seen firsthand how she interacts with 5th-8th graders and that is most definitely her niche. Good luck, Chris!!

The fire haircut video got a big response on the site as well as on Facebook. Here's my favorite comment and a huge addition to the "Don't try this at home" category.

When I was in the military stationed in Turkey, the Turkish barbers used a similar technique. They took what I think was an oversized cotton swab and lit it on fire. The flame was barely noticeable and they used it to singe the fuzzy hair in and around your ears. It worked real well.
