I Love Mokena! Eggcetera Owners Love, Believe in Mokena
The Bastis family believes so strongly in the community that they expanded their local business to a second location. Do you know their story?

Welcome back.
Dino, Gail and the rest of the Bastis family are one of thousands that decided to make Mokena their home in the last two decades. Thank goodness they made such a wise choice. If not, there's a strong possibility that we would be missing one of our most well-known downtown Mokena anchor businesses.
Since June of 2003 visitors to downtown Mokena have had the option, and privilege, of eating breakfast and lunch at one of the quaintest and best-run restaurants you'll find anywhere.

, on Mokena Street just south of Front Street and the Metra tracks, serves up a multitude of our favorite breakfast and lunch items every day. Once inside, the quaint setting and unique view of Front Street, the train station and railroad tracks all add to an ambiance I can best describe as "country village charming". It makes you feel good just being there.
On a typical morning at Eggcetera Cafe it's not unusual to run into friends and neighbors from all around our beautiful little village. Local politicos are also known to frequent the sunny dining room to catch up on community trends and opinions. In spring and summer the open and airy front porch is a popular place to enjoy breakfast and lunch or read the morning paper with a great cup of coffee. The large and diverse menu includes many recognizable choices, plus a few "Eggcetera only" delights.

After six years of success and customer loyalty, the Bastis' gave careful thought to opening a location on busy 191st Street. Originally there was serious discussion about moving out of the Mokena Street location, but with plenty of support from longtime regulars, and very careful research and planning, the decision was made to open a second location. As it turned out, not only was it a great decision for Dino and Gail, it was a tremendous boost for the entire community.
In February of 2010, Eggcetera Cafe on 191st Street, a few blocks west of the Metra tracks, opened for business. The new location, while somewhat reminiscent of the downtown Mokena location, has its own distinct atmosphere including a wide open dining room, culminating into a unique interpretation of the original restaurant. True to form, the new location continued on with the same successful menu.
Over two years later, with the ever-present oversight of Dino's father Ted and a well-trained and experienced staff, both locations are doing quite well. Along with family support Dino gives some of the credit for their success to joining and participating in the Mokena Chamber of Commerce. Being able to meet and talk with other local business owners in the Chamber helped spread the word about his business and gave him valuable insight into what it takes to grow a new business in town.
The Bastis family's faith and investment in our community illustrates how much they really love Mokena.
