Kids Say Coyotes 'Live In A Den' Near Mokena School
An NBC story on coyotes near Mokena Elementary School included one woman's assertion that they are "as common as rabbits" in the area.

MOKENA, IL - Coyotes are a common sight in the area near Mokena Elementary School — "as common as rabbits," two students told NBC Chicago, which ran a story about coyotes prowling the area Monday.
"They live in a den back there," student Adley Harrah said. His brother, Blake, said several coyotes were spotted in the area in recent days, one of which appeared to be injured.
School Principal Anna Kirchner told NBC the coyotes pose no immediate threat.

"They don't like people," she said, "and we need to retrain them by using noise, air horns and bull horns."
While Mokena Elementary isn't far from the village's downtown, it's also close to the woods. For that reason, Adley and Blake's father said, "you're going to see certain things here and there."
