Local Groups Receive Donations From Mokena Mayors Foundation
Mayor Frank Fleischer donated $18,000 to local charities on behalf of the foundation.
MOKENA, IL — Mayor Frank Fleischer recently handed out stipends for several local charities thanks to proceeds from the Mokena Mayors Charity golf outing. The golf outing was held by the Mokena Mayors Charitable Foundation, and Fleischer donated $18,000 to local charities on behalf of the foundation.
Recipients included the Mokena Marley FISH Outreach, the Will County Children’s Advocacy Center, Girl Scout Service Unit 41, Mokena Senior Citizens, Boy Scout Troop 40, Boy Scout Troop 725, Cub Scout Pack 39, the Mokena Woman’s Club, the Mokena Cancer Support Center, Lincoln-Way Special Recreation Association, the Journey Pregnancy and Life Hub, Mokena Miracles, the Mokena D.A.R.E. Program, One Love Global Wellness Foundation, and My Joyful Heart.
The village said funds were also given to the scholarship fund, which annually awards three $1,000 scholarships to Mokena area citizens pursuing a college degree. Money was also set aside for U.S. savings bonds for selected participants in the annual Student Government Day hosted by the village.

According to the village, the Mayors Charitable Foundation was formed in 1991 by former Mayor Ron Grotovsky. In its history, it has donated over $362,000 to local charities, civic groups, and charitable causes.
