Lottery Will Determine Who Gets New Parking Spots Near Metra
Mokena residents can enter themselves into a lottery to lease new parking spots near the Rock Island tracks.

MOKENA, IL -- Forty-nine additional parking spaces are coming to the unpaved lot just south of the Rock Island tracks in downtown Mokena. A random lottery system will be implemented to determine who will have the right to lease the spaces, which cost $120 per quarter.
Anyone interested in landing one of the spaces should enter into a lottery through the Village of Mokena before 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2. Find the "Latest News" section on the village's website and follow the instructions before submitting the application.
All lottery entrants will be notified of their status by Friday, May 4, according to the village. The parking spaces will be available for use beginning on Monday, May 7. A signed lease and the first quarterly payment must be submitted before using the space.

Lottery winners will only be guaranteed the new spaces until March 31, 2019.
The new spaces will become available as 15 spots currently for commuters will be turned into business parking. The village said that's to support the recent downtown development, including the Tribes Beer Company.
