Man Charged After Robbery During Online Sale: Mokena PD

Police said the incident occurred on Feb. 25 when Long and two others tried to steal an item during a sale that had been arranged online.

MOKENA, IL — A University Park man has been charged after physically fighting and stealing from a seller during an online sale, Mokena Police said. Jason Long, 19, was charged with robbery, residential burglary, aggravated battery and theft.

Police said the incident occurred on Feb. 25 after the victim arranged to sell an item to three individuals online. When they met in person, the three tried to steal the item from the victim, police said, which led to a physical fight.

According to police, the three eventually fled the scene in a car with the stolen item, while their victim sustained minor injuries.

Through their investigation, police said they learned the identities of the three suspects, one of which was Long. A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was taken into custody by University Park Police Department on March 4. He was then transferred into the custody of Mokena PD.

Long was taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility and had not been released as of March 5. His bond was set at $150,000 with 10 percent to apply.

Arrest warrants have also been issued for the two other suspects, police said.
