Man Sentenced for DUI Crash That Killed Elderly Mokena Couple
John L. Wiesch was sentenced to seven years in prison for the 2013 crash that claimed the lives of William and Harriet Slager.

MOKENA, IL - The Monee man accused of killing William and Harriet Slager of Mokena in a traffic crash in 2013 has been sentenced to spend seven years in prison.
John L. Wiesch, 43, received the sentence from Will County Judge Sarah Jones on Wednesday, according to a report from the Herald-News.
Wiesch was charged following an alleged DUI crash on Sept. 26, 2013 that killed William, 84 and Harriet, 82.

Wiesch allegedly crashed his Ford F-150 into a car occupied by the Slagers on LaGrange Road near Frankfort.
Wiesch, who operates a masonry business, will begin his sentence next week after finding care arrangements for his daughters, ages 13 and 9. Wiesch is a single father, according to the Herald-News report.

Jones had the option of ordering probation for Wiesch, but could have also sentenced him to as many as 28 years behind bars.
