Holiday Dinner Spreads Joy with Gifts, Meals and Community Support

Mission Meals served more than 170 meals as part of its December Holiday Dinner held at the St. John United Church of Christ Community Center in Mokena, according to Tammy Leonard, founder of One Love Global Wellness Foundation, the nonprofit organization under which Mission Meals operates.

In addition to the full holiday spread catered by EggCetera Café, Mission Meals distributed winter hats and gloves, clothes, toiletries, candy and toys to those in attendance. Holiday gift cards for Berkot's Super Foods, Meijer, and Walmart were also provided.

Santa, joined by over 18 community volunteers, greeted visitors, assisted with serving meals, and distributed holiday gifts. Since its founding in 2011, the organization has supported over 15,806 individuals and distributed more than 158,350 pounds of food.

One Love Global Wellness Foundation was established to address food insecurity in Will County, where approximately 47,130 people, including 9.7% of children, struggle with reliable access to nutritious food.

Through the Mission Meals program, One Love Global Wellness Foundation and EggCetera Café owners Dino and Gail Bastas have provided vital support to local families, seniors, and individuals in need.
