Mokena 159 Mask decision

In August the Mokena 156 school board will decide whether or not masks will be mandated for our children during the 2021-22 board meeting. There exists a very small number of people who want our kids to wear masks again this school year. Unfortunately this group is supported by teacher unions. But the decision will be made by the school board. It is my opinion and that a majority of Mokena 159 parents and citizens feel that masks should not be mandated for our children. All data supports that grade school aged kids are not at risk for Covid 19 or any variants. If parents want their kids to wear masks, that's their decision. As far as parents with vaccinated children are concerned their kids should not have to wear masks. If any teacher or other staff members want to take the year off without pay, that's fine. There are more than 50,000 people in Illinois who do not teach but have a teaching certificate. Empty positions would be easy to fill and without any of teaching teaching competence. Bottom line: Yes to in school instruction and No to any mask mandate.
