Mokena Approves $2 Million 2019 Tax Levy
The total 2019 tax levy is $2,006,427, which is a 1.24 percent increase, or $24,522, over the 2018 property tax.
MOKENA, IL — At its Nov. 25 meeting, the Mokena village board approved the adoption of the 2019 tax levy. The total 2019 tax levy is $2,006,427, which is a 1.24 percent increase, or $24,522, over the 2018 property tax.
According to board documents, the village receives about 4 percent of the overall tax bill, or about $246 for a $300,000 home.
Finance Director Barbara Damron presented information about this year's tax levy and said when compared to 23 neighboring Will County communities (in 2018), Mokena has the lowest municipal property tax rate and is below average when comparing total tax bills.

Board documents state the village has increased its levy by an average of 2.85 percent over the last 10 years.
