Mokena Board Approves Front Street Improvements

Work is expected to begin the week of June 2 and be completed by mid-July, weather permitting.

MOKENA, IL — At its May 28 meeting, the Mokena village board awarded a contract in the amount of $102,335 to Bernardin Landscaping, Inc., of Mokena for the Mokena village board awarded a contract in the amount of $102,335 to Bernardin Landscaping, Inc., of Mokena for improvements to hardscaped areas , as well as to the public gathering areas located on the south side of Front near Wolf and Mokena.

According to the village, the contract with Bernardin calls for them to remove existing
cobblestones in these areas and replace them with decorative pavers, as well as completing any
other associated restoration activities. Work is expected to begin the week of June 2 and be completed by mid-July, weather permitting.

Improvements are aimed at enhancing access and safety for downtown business customers,
while also advancing the attractiveness of the downtown and addressing ongoing maintenance costs, the village said.
